From the front it looks like a simple shift dress, but when you turn around the back bodice criss-crosses, creating a V in the back (I LOVE a good V-back) and wraps around to tie in the front. Simple with a twist. What’s not to love?!

My favorite outfit as a kid was a handmade shirt and skirt that my mom made me more a violin recitals. It was a shirred white top with peasant sleeves and a long, black, tiered skirt. She braided my hair on top of my head and stuck small roses into the braids. I felt beautiful, like Frida Kahlo. For both my mother and me, that outfit is the quintessence of my style. Since then, I’ve been trying to recreate and modernize that look.
